SPANISH AND INKA CULTURE PROGRAM
Starting Dates: Every week.
Duration: 3 weeks.
Lessons:( 40 hours of Spanish lessons for the first two weeks / 20 hours cultural part on the last week).
This program has been designed for students who wish to improve their listening to and understanding of the Spanish language via the explanations given by the Spanish teachers at each archaeological site.
With each visit, the students learn more about our culture and history via guided visits to archaeological centers which have a lot of culture to offer but which is rarely known due to lack of resources.
SPANISH CLASSES AND GUIDED VISITS
To take part in the guided visits, you need to have a minimum of 2 weeks of Spanish classes of 4 hours a day in our school. This minimum was established because we consider these lessons not only teach the students enough to communicate and understand Spanish at a basic level (especially for beginners), but also prepare them for the third week of practice which will be further developed by the guided visits.
Each visit enables the student to practice Spanish vocabulary, pronunciation and comprehension. They can also develop their communication skills by asking the teacher/guide questions about the archaeological centre.
Each visit lasts for 4 hours a day during the last week (from Monday to Friday) of the program.
The guided visits are led by Spanish teachers who have guiding training as well as their professional skills.
INKA CULTURE – ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES VISITED
The archaeological sites visited have been grouped into two routes:
- The Northern Cusco circuit.
- The Southern Cusco circuit.
These circuits aren’t part of the tourist route that agencies normally offer. We’ve chosen these circuits to offer more choice to or students and to broaden their knowledge of our culture.
Our archaeological sites are no more than 30 minutes in bus from Cusco and the scenery you can see on these trips is beautiful.
In choosing our archaeological sites, we considered two important points:
- They are new Inkan archaeological groups, and they are excelently preserved.
- They receive fewer tourists and are actually less explored and photographed because of their lack of marketing.
The program includes:
- 2 weeks of regular Spanish classes (that is private or group classes held in the school).
- 1 week of guided visits to the different archaeological sites with the teachers.
- Transport to the archaeological sites.
- Accommodation for 3 weeks in the Residencia or with a local family.
- Information about the last week’s itinerary of visits to the archaeological sites.
- Snacks for each day of visits.
Not included: entry fees
SPANISH AND PERU TODAY PROGRAM
Starting Dates: Every week
Duration: 1 - 2 weeks
Lessons: 30 hours per week ( 20 hours of Spanish lessons / 10 hours cultural part)
Class size: minimun: 1 / maximun 4 students for Spanish and Cultural part.
For students who want to learn Spanish and at the same time familiarize themselves with today’s culture and understand the background to Peru’s social, economic and cultural situation, we suggest the ‘SPANISH AND PERU TODAY’ program. This program is made up of 10 hours of lessons complimentary to the regular daily Spanish lessons (20 hours a week/4 hours a day). The two extra hours are taken in the afternoon, when the students take part in presentations, exhibitions of art and culture, and visits with their teachers to places that reflect today’s culture in Peru, such as universities, colleges, museums, markets, hospitals and orphanages with local people to practice both their communication, listening and understanding of the Spanish language.

Methodology
Our program is built on up-to-date teaching methodologies. It
combines communication and grammar, with a primary emphasis on the
knowledge of basic grammar. The needs of the students function as
the guideline for the best application of our methodology.
Levels
Before beginning courses at our school, students who have previous
knowledge of the language will be tested to determine the
appropriate course level. There are four basic levels :
Basic
I This level is designed for students who are studying Spanish for
the first time. By the end of the course, they will know the basic
elements of the language and will be able to communicate in specific
situations.
II This level is designed for students who already have a basic
knowledge of Spanish. By the end of this course, they will have a
better understanding of grammar and vocabulary.
Intermediate
I - II
In these two levels, students will increase their vocabulary and
practice more grammar. The emphasis of these courses is to increase
the student’s ability to communicate, comprehend, and express
themselves more effectively in a variety of different situations.
Advanced I -
II
In these two advanced courses, students will be taught a deeper
understanding of the more complex structures of Spanish grammar.
Their vocabulary will be enriched with specific terms according to
the themes developed in the course.
Superior
This course is orientated towards students whose goal is to reach
perfection in Spanish. This means more practice of the grammar
topics determined by the student’s needs. This course provides extra
attention to vocabulary, with an emphasis on the idiomatic
expressions that will enable the student to speak fluent Spanish in
any given situation or conversation.
Course
Material
Our school uses seven different textbooks. We have two books for
each level (basic, intermediate and advanced) and one book for the
superior course. Our textbooks were developed specifically for
teaching Spanish to foreign students, with the goal to teach
students as quickly and thoroughly as possible.
The books are adapted to our methodology of teaching and to the
culture, customs and traditions of our country and other South-American
countries.
When you sign up for a minimum of ten hours, you will receive the
textbook for the corresponding level.
We also offer access to our library which contains various textbooks,
books on the culture and history of Peru, magazines, dictionaries
and more. Students can also exchange guidebooks or novels with other
students.
Certificate
At the end of each course, students will receive an official
certificate from the school that states the amount of course hours,
the date and the course level completed. This certificate documents
that the students has completed this level of study to a
satisfactory level.
