I
enrolled in the Escuela Sudamericana de Espanol, Cusco, Peru for one
month of study. As a teacher qualified in the areas of early childhood,
primary, secondary and special education, I have very high
expectations of ‘quality teaching’ and ‘best practices in all areas of
education’.
Yedira Vallenas Tarraga is the Principal of the Escuela Sudamericana
de Espanol, Cusco. During my month of study, under the tuition of
Yedira, I found :
|
-
The
program to be tailored to individual needs and/or ability level of
the student
-
The
course content to be developmental in terms of degree of difficulty
and relevance to the learner
-
The
work booklet to be well-designed, reader friendly and contain
revision/check list activities that both test the learner and
provide a stimulus to learn ‘more’.
-
The
delivery of the course to be well structured and follow language
development acquisition stages similar to the teaching of English
-
Classes to be available for children, teenagers or adults in either
1 to 1 settings, or in small to larger groups.
-
Programs offerings to be flexible: our 10 year old daughter was
doing an advanced course with one of Yedira’s teachers.
As a
teacher, I found Yedira to be:
-
Highly skilled in her knowledge of both Spanish and English
-
An
outstanding teacher of good language models for her students in both
her English presentation and Spanish delivery of all lesson
components
-
Punctual and very well organised
-
Skilled in encouraging the slowest learner to maintain
determination and acquire skills in a second language
-
Able to teach the same content to a group but adjusting her
instruction to meet the needs of both the fast and slower learners
-
Friendly, honest and highly professional
-
Great fun, always relaxed and ensuring that all her students felt
confident in speaking a new language.
Escuela Sudamericana de Espanol, Cusco IS
-
Fantastic fun: each teacher’s sense of humour and happy disposition
ensures each lesson is light hearted and maximises your learning of
Spanish
-
Economical: great value for money – the best deal in Cusco
-
Tailored to meet your individual needs and ability level so you
always feel a success
-
A
great way to learn about the culture and history of Peru – Yedira’s
work booklet has been cleverly written – all the content reflects
either Peruvian history or culture.
-
A wonderful experience for teachers – it is nice to
sit back and see a great teacher at work
A fine example of excellence in education
I
left my last lesson thinking how very strange it was that I had
travelled thousands of kilometres around the world, and here, in Cusco,
high up in the lonely Andes Mountains, I had found one of the best
teachers in the world. Congratulations Yedira and staff.
